In 2016, my husband and I became parents for the third time, this time with a little girl, Alma. Alma was born with a rare eye condition, congenital cataracts. As a result, she came into the world blind in her left eye.
Alma was diagnosed with the condition at 5½ months. Eye surgery at the age of 7 months was just the start of adjusting our daily lives to glasses and training her weak eye with an eye plaster for half of her waking moments.
The idea behind Vision4Kids developed from our personal situation and builds upon a belief that all children should have the best possible conditions for achieving the best possible sight, because better vision creates a greater quality of life.
